THE PROMISES OF CHRISTMAS by Fr. Linh

FIRST SUNDAY OF ADVENT – YEAR C

Listen to the Reflection here!

First Reading: Jeremiah 33:14-16

I will raise up for David a just shoot.

The days are coming, says the Lord, when I will fulfill the promise I made to the house of Israel and Judah. In those days, in that time, I will raise up for David a just shoot; he shall do what is right and just in the land. In those days Judah shall be safe and Jerusalem shall dwell secure; this is what they shall call her: “The Lord our justice.”

Questions for Reflection

1.      How did God remain faithful to his promise even though the people sinned?

2.      What promise of God is particularly meaningful to you at this point in your life?

3.      How should God’s promise of eternal salvation affect your everyday actions?
